FINDING
Animal Assisted Therapy Ranch
An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.” –Martin Buber
Lenny was born March 3, 2016 and adopted from Freedom Service Dogs in February 2018. She was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico by Freedom Service Dogs when she was one. Lenny’s second year of life was spent being trained. While she didn’t make it to be a service dog because of her high anxiety, Lenny did find her purpose in helping people find their true authentic selves. Prior to finding her forever home, she was placed with a family who had two teenagers on the autistic spectrum. This proved to be too much for Lenny. She was pulled from the placement and released for adoption. Soon after being adopted, Lenny passed her test to be a certified therapy dog, along with her person and handler, Jacque, through Professional Therapy Dogs of Colorado. Lenny now spends her days helping with chores around the ranch, sunbathing, tree climbing, chasing squirrels and bunnies, playing fetch/ keep away, and eliciting laughter from all of those around her.
